The Corsair 13 is a sturdy but performant small sail boat, ideal for two or three people but easily handled by a solo sailor. Complete with mainsail, jib and spinnaker, she is an excellent introduction to technical sailing.
A versatile sailing dinghy for 2 or 3, the Corsair 13 can also be sailed solo. Easy to build, easy to sail but with enough performance potential to satisfy experienced sailors.
Very able, strong but light, the CR13 can take some bad weather.
Experienced sailors can outfit the Corsair 13 with hiking straps, tiller extension and a trapeze. They can customize rig and deck plan to fit their preferences.
Thanks to her wide transom, she can be fitted with a very small outboard or an electric trolling motor.
The plans show different spar materials. The standard rig is an aluminum profile with two alternatives: a wooden mast and a carbon fiber one. Specifications are given for each one.
The standard rig totals 102 sq.ft. but a spinnaker of 80 sq.ft can be added.
Each sail plan shows the sheet, blocks and all details needed to rig the boat plus exact sail, running and standing rigging dimensions.
The spinnaker well is optional.
The Corsair 13 can be made unsinkable with buoyancy foam poured in place under the seats and deck.
All these options can be combined to customize your boat: build her as simple or as sophisticated as you want.
