This is a larger version of the Gypsy and is a 34' offshore cruiser. It has essentially the same cuddy as Gypsy as that has proven a comfortable size for a couple and occasional guests. The hulls though are much larger and contain genuine double berths and a large shower area. In fact we found that in practice the forward bunks are also wide enough to be used as doubles (despite what the drawings show)
Loading capacity is much increased and there is sufficient displacement to carry the stores needed for a long voyage. Seakindliness and speed are also improved when compared to Gypsy. However the Romany has a chined hull rather than dory shaped. This more nearly approximates to a round bilge hull and leads to a more comfortable motion. A round bilge hull is also available - the cuddy, cockpit and hull interior are the same regardless of the hull shape
In May 2008 we bought a home built Romany to replace our Eclipse and we used it to sail in the Bahamas. So the Romany featured significantly on the year reviews of 2008 - 2010.
We sold Romany in 2010. It then left on yet another Bahamas cruise (Romany's 4th visit to the Bahamas in 6 years!)
